Library Cards

Our library is supported through Calhoun County and the city of Somers tax payers.  Therefore, in order to obtain a library card, new patrons must prove that they are residents of either Somers and/or rural Calhoun County.  Acceptable proof includes a driver’s license, student ID, or any official ID or piece of mail that lists the patron’s address

Out-of-town and -county patrons whose home library participates in the Iowa Open Access Program are also eligible for a Somers Public Library card (with proper ID).  For a list of participating libraries, visit the State Library’s website.

Any other prospective patron may obtain a library card for an annual fee of $10.

A parent's or guardian's signature is required for children under the age of 14 to receive a library card.  A library card gives patrons access to the entire collection of the library, and it is the responsibility of parents and/or guardians to supervise the materials their children check out.

This resource is supported by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act as administered by State Library of Iowa.
